Angry Johnny and The Killbillies
THE BALLAD OF THE CRANKYVILLE TROLLEY
Crankyville MP3 (3.91 MB)
He was born in 1979
You should've seen him comin’ off that line
Glowin’ orange like the risin’ sun
He went to work then for the state
He was always early never late
Didn’t quit until the work was done
Then come one day they said you’re thru
We ain’t got no more work for you
The auction block was where he headed now
A mean old schister came along
And bought ol’ Cranky for a song
He knew for sure that he was crusher bound
Then along came a band
They was lookin’ for a van
The schister saw ‘em comin’ a mile away
He said I’ll sell you this car
It’ll make you boys a star
Now that bastard he’s still laughin’ ‘til this day
He carried them thru rain and snow
There was no place he wouldn’t go
He gave ‘em all he got a then gave ‘em more
From Boston Buffalo New Orleans
Raleigh Chicago and in between
He took ‘em on their money losin’ tours
Now 450 thousand miles later
Them boys they just ain’t that much greater
But that Cranky hardly ever let them down
Until one day on 95
The last day that it was alive
It belched it’s last god awful dying sound
It said I ain’t got it in me
It’d be better if you left me
And it spilled it’s oil all over the ground
Now the Cranky’s ride is finished
And our spirits are diminished
Let’s hope the cranky’s soul is heaven bound
So raise ‘em up and make a toast
To the Crankyville Trolley’s rusty ghost
in honor to our ever faithful friend
A better van there’ll never be
A better band PROBABLY
But we’ll never see the likes of him again
But don’t tell that to our brand new van
But let’s give the Cranky a big fuckin’ AMEN |
